The bodega

Stone, wood and barrels

Behind a pair of wood-and-glass sliding doors lies the bodega, the house’s wine cellar: stone walls, a beamed ceiling, a flagstone floor and wooden barrels used as tables, with high stools around them.

Old black-and-white photographs line the walls, and the bodega sign bearing the name of the house hangs from the ceiling.

Corners of the house

Places to linger

The house is best explored slowly. Here are a few of its corners.

  • Lounge with a corner fireplace, yellow walls with exposed stone, a beamed ceiling, a rocking chair, a gramophone and a vintage television

Set up like an old-fashioned grocer’s: scales, a cash register, wicker baskets, a hand-turned stone mill and packets of gofio de millo, the Canarian flour made from toasted maize.

  • Courtyard with yellow-clothed tables and wicker armchairs among plants, under a wooden pergola, with the wine cellar sign in the background
