The old town
Adeje, a historic town
Before the conquest, Adeje was the seat of a Guanche kingdom, or menceyato. From the centuries that followed, the old town keeps the Church of Santa Úrsula, the former Franciscan convent and the Casa Fuerte, all three listed as Sites of Cultural Interest in 1986. In 2007 the Government of the Canary Islands granted Adeje the title of Historic Town (Histórica Villa).
The hotel is on Calle Grande, the same street as the church, the convent and Plaza de España. Step out of the door and the old town is yours to explore on foot.

A few steps from the door
About 200 m on foot
Church of Santa Úrsula
One of the first churches in the south of Tenerife: the earliest written record dates from 1530. The left-hand nave is 16th-century and the main nave 17th-century. Inside, a Mudéjar-style ceiling; on top of the bell gable, the small head of an idol, a rare sight in Canarian architecture.
About 200 m on foot
Plaza de España and the former convent
The square sits on Calle Grande itself and looks out over the landscape of the Barranco del Infierno. At its entrance stand the church and the convent of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y San Pablo, founded in 1679, which the town hall now uses for civil weddings and concerts.
About 300 m on foot
Casa Fuerte
Built in 1556 to defend the area from pirate raids, for three centuries it was the political, economic and social centre of Adeje. A fire destroyed much of it in 1902.

La Caleta and the southern beaches
Adeje has 14 beaches, with sand of every colour. From the old town you can drive or take the bus down to the coast.
About 6 km by road
La Caleta
A fishing village on the Costa Adeje. The La Puntilla and La Punta bathing area has rocks, golden volcanic tuff sand, a seabed popular with snorkellers and divers, and a promenade lined with fresh fish restaurants. There are no beach facilities, and no steps or ramps down to the water.
Between 6 and 10 km by road
Fañabé, El Duque and Troya
Three of the beaches of Costa Adeje, the stretch of coast where most of the area’s hotels and leisure facilities are found.
